What is Treats4Buddy? Why are we so devoted to this project? Why are they mixes and not finished product? I will make sure all these questions are answered because every question is very important. This month we are going to view each treat mix and each treat mix will be spot lighted with a great discount for you. So Lets get started......

Question 1..... What is Treats4Buddy?
Treats are very essential for Dogs and Cats. Lets face it. They give you "the Look" and we give in, Right? Yep that's right..Well for most of us anyway. I wanted to create HEALTHY treat options for our dogs and cats. I want to share this with everyone I knew because my dogs LOVED them and they were HEALTHY. Just like our children, if there is a healthier option isn't that better? Yes indeed it is.
4-Buddy? well this is because 4 meaning FOR and Buddy is our beloved dog that we lost to Cancer. I will go over this in the next question.

Question 2..... Why are we so devoted to this project?
Our dog Buddy passed away from cancer in direct connection to the dog food and treats that we were feeding him. It was so sad to know that we could have prevented this from happening to him. I knew that there were lots of options for dog food now. The crappy stuff still is on the market but at least there are options that are healthier. The treats on the other hand because of "living on a shelf" in the grocery store there are preservatives. NOT GOOD for your dog.....

Question 3..... Why are they mixes and not finished product?
First of all we want the least amount of preservatives as possible in the treats. With the mix form you control what you put in the treats. You decide the size and shape and desired consistency of the treats. Its truly that simple. You decide the end result. We give you the dry ingredients and directions on what to add and its up to you for the rest. Just like a cake mix.

Please keep coming back for more great ideas and our Spot Light TREAT.... and lots of great ideas.

Keep in Mind

  • Homemade K9 treats are edible or unique gifts.

  • Get Well- Do you know a puppy or K9 that just had surgery or other procedure? I bed they would appreciate a delicious Homemade K9 Treat.
These are just a few ideas. One big new hit spreading through the world of K9 owners is a birthday party for that special puppy or K9. Storage for your K9 Treats

Things to Consider
  • Where you live- Homemade treats that are left in a treat jar on the counter will not last as long as ones that are placed in a a cool and dry location then those that are hot and humid.
  • Preservatives- Store bought treats may last long because of their preservatives. This is why we created Treats 4 Buddy because of all those undesirable additives Including the preservatives. (Not all preservatives are bad such as vitamin C and E.)
  • Ingredients- The type and amount of certain ingredients play a part in how you store homemade K9 treats. If you have purchased treats with meat and/or meat juices, they will need to be refrigerated and will not last as long as other treats.
  • Moisture- The moisture, texture and denseness of treats you have chosen play a part. A crunchy or hard treat will last weeks longer then those that are soft or moist training treats or cupcakes.
  • Cool- Even though you are so cool for purchasing homemade K9 treats for your dog I am talking about temperature. Before storing your homemade treats you need to be sure that the treats avoid condensation in the fridge. This will avoid mold which is not good for your K9.
  • Light- you and your dog treats have an enemy. Its light. Well really direct bright sunlight and heat is another problem. The Best place to store your treats is in a cool, dark and dry place. This could be a pantry or cupboard away from stove and microwave ovens. This will help for your treats last longer.
KEEP IN MIND....

REFRIGERATOR- Using an airtight container is the best way to go. If you use this method your treats can last for at least 2 months in the refrigerator.

FREEZER- If you use an airtight container your homemade K9 treats should last for at least 8 months in the freezer.

DEPENDING ON YOUR TREAT YOU MAY WANT TO BRING THE REFRIGERATED OR FROZEN TREATS TO ROOM TEMPERATURE BEFORE SERVING OR IF YOUR DOG LOVES ICE CUBES AND OTHER COLD TREATS HE OR SHE MAY ENJOY THEM STRAIGHT FROM THE FRIDGE OR FREEZER.
